I am trying to figure out if I want an X or T series notebook. I like the idea of a really small laptop for travel, but it seems useful to have a little bigger screen along with a DVD drive too. How do I configure the T series to be 3-5 lbs (closer to 3lbs if possible) and can anyone help on how to find a lightweight 14" laptop in the outlet section.

I am almost ready to make up my mind on this.

There's also one pretty big difference between the X and the T. The T has a touchpad and the X doesn't.

You can make the T series lighter by replacing the optical drive with a plastic cover.

And where can you get this plastic cover? I thought this had already been discussed and the conclusion was that the current T series didn't have a plastic cover.

You're probably right. I was thinking of the old T 4x series.

I couldn't make up my mind so I did both. T61p 15'' is my new "desktop replacement" at home and my X61t gets carried with me every where I go.

As far as the T series, you'd want to go with the 14inch model, 6 cell battery, and as sp00n mentioned, leave the optical drive out. There's not much more configuration wise you can do that will significantly impact the weight. The 65 watt ac adapter is definitely lighter than the 90 watt that comes with the P.
