Seems like the Intel card on the T61 is not as strong as it is on 2 other Dell's I have used. What gives despite the ateanna?

Could be the magnesium rollcage.
Is it actually weaker or does it just seem weaker like you said? -
One difference that occurs to me is that Dells do not have Thinkvantage power management, which when combined with Windows power management can produce some weird symptoms. Have you turned both off for the wifi and checked it?

Hi Ark....
How is your Turbo Memory?
"Is it actually weaker or does it just seem weaker like you said?"
Yes, I was curious how what an AP see's is being measured? -
Hello, Renee.
What Turbo Memory?
I decided not to take it, remember? -
OOOOOOhhhhhh... that's right. Sorry. It went to M.

Hi ,
Please let me know how to use the datacard in lenovo y510 laptop.
I was using in IBM T43 previously, but in y510 PCMCIA data card is not
fit in the given slot. Please let me know if u hav any suggestion.
Thanks in Advance -
I don't think PCMCIA adapters are included with newer systems anymore. The slot you have now is probably an ExpressCard slot.

Hey O! That's me, and it's working great, no BSOD's that everyone reports. I'm actually going to be installing x64 when I have more time on my hands and hopefully that goes well.

Which do you recommend then? TV has the neat little location/distance software but Vista doesn't. But I need distance so I can use my neighbors WIFI. -
K... Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist.
For a user 64 bit is great... for a developer... it's a lot of a headache. -
"TV has the neat little location/distance software but Vista doesn't. "
Actually this is illusory. What is being displayed is simply signal strength vs Signal quality.
A far away 500 mw transceiver will appear to be closer than a nearby 20 mw transceiver. So what is really being displayed is what I would call Signal Proximity. You also cannot assume assume path symmetry unless you are matched in power and antenna configuration. -
I was referring to the power management utility, not the net management. The Intel mobility chip has discrete power management capabilities - it can reduce signal strength to save power, if you have a good signal. This could account for the lower signal you were seeing compared to Dell. The Windows generic driver probably does not use the discrete stepping, but my guess is that TV does - that is why Lenovo uses its own utilities, to max the hardware capabilities. The Intel Proset driver (a third option on TP's) has a setting for max performance or max battery life, that will turn signal management on or off, separate from turning the card on and off.

The option controls the chips power output. -
Right - that is what I was sloppily referring to as signal strength, but I suppose it also affects amping the incoming signal.
