Hi, I might have missed it but is there a bios SATA II fix for an X60s from middleton the bios wizard?

Hi, I have a X60 tablet 6364 thinkpad model and I need urgently to change the mini-pci wirellescard by another not official one but I get a BIOS error
I think X61 tablet have the same oficial BIOS, but when I try to apply "Dual-IDA_SATA-II_Whitelist_SLIC21_ThinkPad_X61_Tablet_BIOS_(1.25-1.02)" patch using WINUPTP as administrator I get this error: The process does not reconize this system. The process has been canceled.
I NEED HELP!!
Thank you. -
The X60t is a SATA I machine and cannot be upgraded to SATA II from Middleton's update.

Owner of a T61p (6457) with Intel 320 series SSD (120GB).
Read speed went from 79MB/s to 113MB/s.
Write speed went from 98MB/s to 126MB/s.
Boot time was -15 seconds.
pretty amazing stuff... easiest way to soup up a thinkpad! Be sure to donate!!! -
Hi all. My machine is Thinkpad T61p with the updated BIOS per discussed topic. I have updated it a few months prior, and a few days ago I started to experience strange behavior: laptop is unable to boot at first attempt, occasional BSOD, and even Error 2100: HDD0 not found. My question to the honorable society of Thinkpad lover is this: does the updated (unofficial) BIOS have anything to do with the infamous Error 2100? Does it affect the SSD in a long run, such as more rapid SSD wear out, or some intermittent connection error? And how to resolve this annoyance (or lead me in the right direction of search). Your assistance is very much appreciated.
-
However just found out that the original zender's X60t whitelist patch is still on my HDD. So I can send it to you (my email address is on page 7). -
-
The request has been done, thanx! -
"Event Log Service is unavailable. Verify that the service is running."
Windows can hardly load at an nth attempt. Safe Mode is loading fine.
Occasional Error 2100 and BSOD show up. Often the Aero would not load, though in Personalization window there would be a link to correct it.
Often the audio would not load, and I would have to click on the icon in the tray to resolve the problem.
My SSD is Crucial RealSSD. The SSDLife shows 100% health. As I said before the BIOS is updated to the modified one. I tried to update to the latest official on,e but it won't let me, saying not needed.
Antivirus is KIS2012 working fine, no malware.
I suspect it is the link between SSD and the system that is unreliable. I am not that techy to know exactly the terminology.
Pleas help. -
If you do that at least you'd be able to see if it's the SSD that's at fault, if the system is stable with the replacement HDD...just something to consider. -
I will have a spare disk in a couple of days and I will try it.
But just now I had to reboot and the system won't as usual. Finally upon logging in, which took longer then usual, another problem occurred: a window popped up, entitled: Location is not available. C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible. Access denied. And the desktop was like a basic Win theme, all grey. The shortcuts were missing and explorer was acting weird. I restarted wanting to go into safe mode and restart again, booting into normal mode, which helped before. Now it won't go into safe mode either. Then I restarted into normal and it went fine except for aero and sound. This time wireless service had to be fixed cause it didn't start on its own. -
I'm still thinking it's primarily the SSD that's at fault but I could be wrong. -
Hey everyone, I know this is off subject but I could use some help overclocking my X61. I know virtually nothing on the subject and would like to find a thread with others who have overclocked the same machine. Googling has turned up nada. Any help??
Thanks! -

Ok, it is indeed an I/O problem. The files are inaccessible. Errors would show it is an I/O problem. KIS failed to update for two days until I deleted temp update files; VLC would shut down for I/O error occasionally. I don't remember all of the errors, but I do know I saw several specifically said it was disk read or I/O error.
So, my question is if this updated BIOS somehow affected the disk reads and/or writes? I attached SSDLife SMART data screenshot.Attached Files:

Sorry to do this but I'd just like to join and ask if anyone has experienced any problems with Middleton's BIOS? Getting my x61s tomorrow and am already planning buying a Crucial M4 for it so SATAII would be great.
Thanks!
Or if there have been any updates since this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6501443-post75.html -
I am not sure if this is because of this bios, or all ThinkPads have this issue, but inside the BIOS there is an option to leave USB ports powered-on while the computer is off, but on AC power. The problem is, they remain powered ON even after you disconnect the AC.

Have you ran CrystalDiskInfo and HD Tune Pro against the existing SSD at all? -
Did work with R61i, 7650
Upgraded from intel t5250 to t9300, did not work with standard bios 7PET16WW, no bios message appeared, no system boot possible.
After upgrade to 7PETC3WW the message "thermal sensor error" appeared after the thinkpad splash screen. With ESC I could proceed (without shutdown after a few seconds) but I wasn't able to enter the bios nor to change the boot device temporarily.
After flashing your 2.23-1.08 for r61i 7650, everything works fine, entering BIOS works again, no error message at boot time. GREAT GREAT work. Thank you very much. -
So I have a R61i and I upgraded the T5250 to a T8100 today.
I tried to update to middleton's BIOS via a cd and it claims there is no bios file?
I'm guessing I would have to pay middleton some money in order to get this?
I have the R61i 7732 without IEEE 1394, I noticed this isn't listed under middletons update?
T61, T61p
R61 (14.1" widescreen with IEEE 1394): 7732, 7733, 7734, 7735, 7738, 7742, 7744, 7751, 7753, 7754, 7755
R61i (14.1" widescreen with IEEE 1394): 7732, 7742 -
Tell me your current BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version ( Determining which version is installed). -
I own a T61 7661-CTO 14.1" widescreen with 1394 and without Bluetooth. As my device is not listed in your compatibility list, I wanted to ask if I might use your Bios file for T61's for my Thinkpad.
Thanks in advance -
All T61/T61p models use one common BIOS. According to Lenovo you may use this BIOS for ANY T61/T61p machine.
-
Thank you very much, didn't know that. I'm going to try the BIOS in the next couple days.
-
I get the, "BIOS image file cannot be found".
BIOS Version - 2.19
Embedded Controller Version 7KETB9WW -
ThinkPads that have 7KETxxxx BIOS ID:
R61 (14.1" widescreen without IEEE 1394): 7732, 7733, 7734, 7735, 7736, 7737, 7738
R61 (15.4" widescreen): 8914, 8918, 8919, 8920, 8927, 8928, 8929
R61i (15.4" widescreen): 8918
In theory, you should use BIOS for these machines (last row in the table, see page 8). But Lenovo doesn't mention "ThinkPad R61i 14.1 inch widescreen without IEEE 1394" in the supported models list (see here). However you can find this laptop in the supported models list here.
Don't know what it means. Anyway, if you decide to flash the patch, then you do it at your own risk. Maybe Lenovo had serious reasons to exclude your ThinkPad from the list of supported models. -
middleton, thanks a lot for this BIOS.
My X61s arrived damaged a few weeks ago, just replaced the broken parts today and want to thank you for your work. Enable SATAII allowed me to install a Crucial M4 SSD and this thing really flies now.
Will definitely send a donation your way next payday. -

For some unknown reason I cannot get the BOIS to load - error 99 (170)
I have tried removing Removing TPM, stopping bitllocker (which should not be active - using 64 bit Win 7), always errors out at end.
T61 (7663-WDM) 64 bit version W7
TIA -
^ as far as I remember, if you're using the 64bit OS then you need to make a bootable CD to flash your laptop.
No such problem when using 32bit OS.
- shall I not forget to send a ton of thanks to middleton again for the wonderful work -

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what "error 99 (179)" means. Try to turn on "Flash Over LAN" in BIOS setup (Config -> Network section -> Enable Flash on LAN).

I download the BIOS file 2.29-1.08 from www.ali-dj.de
it contains good how to section, update was done with bios CD. All i have to do was deactivate Security Chip in Bios security settings to prevent BITLOCKER error (99) before flashing.
Now my lenovo does fine with double ssd speed!
Thank you - thank middleton!
Dear Forum, dear Middleton,
First: Hello Forum, i am a t61 user looking for the BIOS Update for sataII support as i now upgrade my lenovo with samsung ssd 830 128 MB.
I now want to upgrade (like everyone else here) with your modified bios, but of course be careful not to destroy my lovely book.
mine is lenovo 6466-5wg model, processor t7250 2ghz, win xp sp3 with all updates. bios is version 7LETC7WW (2.27)
Which version of modified bios fits me?
for your information: i updated some bios but never the one of my lenovo.
I searched a lot, but don't find an easy how to for safe bios flashing. It would be very helpful for me to give me some hints. as i read, it's not recommended to flash via windows update utility, so would like to chose the update via bootable cd.
So can someone give me the steps for update my bios?
Thank you in advance,
CB

I have a T61 running Win 7 32-bit, in which I recently installed an SSD.
I've flashed with the 2.29 1.08 Middleton BIOS but neither the swap nor non-swap versions have been able to take me back the Fn - Ctrl - Win - Alt order in my 'normal' world.
I've looked at the phlase log and it seems to suggest both swap success and failure.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Regards
Mark
Hooray! All seems to back to normal now. After a bit more reading through this thread, I then ran the non swap flash.bat file version from the command prompt rather than just launching the .exe file. -
I Have your BIOS installed and i`m very happy. do you have a BIOS which i can use a GOBI 2000 WWAN card on my T61p 8889-ALG. at the moment i have taped PIN 20, but FN F5 and the hardwareswitch doesn`t work. the card ist original lenovo an the Hardware ID`s are.

Do you have a one klick or a one flash solution with SATA 2 Mod and wlan-whitelist? i use win 7 x64.
thanks in advance -
Dear Middleton,
I'm having a T61 8896-2FG with Bios 2.29 (7LETC9WW) updated from lenovo system update (T7300 4GB ram).
I'd like to change my hdd to an ssd sata II
If i'll try to change the bios to version from table given on 8th page anything can happen? (i know that table says nothing about 8896 model - maybe You can tell something more)
Did Any other user try to change lenovo's 2.29 to middleton's 2.29 on 8896 or other not mentioned model from the table? -
You'll have to drop back to 2.27/1.08 because 2.29 will NOT upgrade a bios with the same internal date. So re-flash 2.27/1.08 and then flash the Middleton 2.29/1.08 version.
All T61's are covered by the same flash software.
Good luck! -
Quick question for those with a x61t,
I flashed the Middleton bios for SSD reading support. If I get a SSD SATA III drive, will the machine deny any usage of the drive? Or will the drive run but at the max of 3GB SATA 2 speed?
Any errors or hiderance from the SATA III? -

Man this BIOS is more or less a requirement if you install a SSD in your Thinkpad.
Here are HDTune results on my X61 Tablet:
60GB Mushkin SSD - Stock Lenovo BIOS
60GB Mushkin SSD - Middleton BIOS
EDIT: Come payday I will be making a donation, this BIOS is for sure worth the money! -
I just flashed the BIOS. I now feel like the fan is working harder. its always on almost all the time. could this have anything to do with updating the BIOS?

srry, wrong theme

Amazing. Flashed a X61 tablet with no issues (used the USB method mentioned in this thread).
