Hello!
I`d like to replace my Seagate 120 GB, 5400 RPM HDD with a Seagate 7200.2 200 GB. Now, as the Thinkpad T61 has a fall-sensor built-in, does it make any sense to get the version with G-Force protection? I can buy the HDD without G-Force for about $120, and with G-Force for about $190 (in Poland). If it`s worth it, I would be willing to pay the extra $.

I would not pay extra for it.

Personally, I put in a 320GB Samsung Spinpoint M6 in my T61p the day after I got the computer. They're less than $150 at NewEgg and are pretty much as snappy as a 7200RPM drive (see Tom's hardware guide - notebook drive charts). The space is nice too. I'm considering buying another one to put in my wife's HP laptop.

Just checked. They're $109. I just ordered another one.

Thanks
.
I think I`ll go with no G-Force then.

Thanks for your opinion. The SpinPoint M6 is a bit problematic. It`s quite unknown here in Poland. I didn`t find it anywhere in regular shops. Maybe this is, because Samsung just happens not to be much regarded here.
