I got my T61 and am very happy with my purchase. I do not have a complaint about the badges, I am just wondering why some people got the Centrino Pro badge and others got the Core Duo badge. Does anyone know?

if you get the Thinkpad wireless card, it doesnt count as a centrino.

if you get an intel wireless card, it does.

the processor + intel wireless card = centrino.

It has to do with the configuration. If you get all three elements of the Santa Rosa platform (Intel wireless card, Intel graphics card, T7*00 processor), then you get the ugly Centrino Duo sticker. If any of those is different, you'll get the sweet Core 2 Duo sticker.

I'll be removing all mine (except for the "Thinkpad" or "IBM" sticker). I don't like bumper stickers.

it does, you have to have intel graphics, intel processor and intel wireless to get the centrino badge
I agree, i ripped my "cool" Core 2 duo sticker and vista basic sticker off before i even turned the thing on.

I removed mine also, they look ok at first but I doubt that would last long. Not to mention they remind me of those notebooks at bestbuy.

Looks much better without them actually.

I was eyeing my IBM sticker also but I decided not to since I wasn't sure if it was sunken into the body. I think its weird when you have your Thinkpad open and you have the IBM sticker while you have a white Lenovo logo up at the LCD bezel.

I love the IBM logo, but the stickers are terrible.

Is it possible to do that without leaving residue? I always left mine on because I was afraid it would leave behind residue.

The stickers are ugly, not to mention, they leave a "mark" when you decide to peel them off 2 years later.

Regular scotch tape will remove the residue.

Even some rubbing with your fingers will remove the residue, as long as you remove the stickers fairly soon after getting the computer.

The sooner you do it the better. I've hear it only takes about 1 month before you have permanently discolored spot.

I was going to rub an alcohol swab on it. Maybe I'll try the tape first.
