T61 battery advice

So, as I mentioned in another thread, my battery died -- it's not covered by warranty or recall. When I went to the Lenovo site to see about getting a new battery, I was a little horrified by the prices...does anyone know if it's worth going to an outside site to try to order one? Also, what should I be considering when I weigh capacity? My old battery was a 6-cell, but what's the difference between that and a 4-cell in terms of...well, in terms of anything?

All advice will be most welcome. So far I've just been stalling, but I really do need to get a replacement.

4-cell will be much less run time. Did you see this deal on the outlet? Looks like a great deal.

It only has a 90-day warranty...is that normal for the outlet? Seems like it's probably worth a chance.

FWIW I got a nib 7-cell battery for my T61 some years ago from a seller on ebay. I think the total was less than $90 shipped. This might be worth a shot.

Edit: Holy crapskats, that 9 cell is a deal! Ignore me.

 

Wow, only $40 for a 9cell battery !?
I wonder if it would fit the 15.4 inch T61. I know it says 14, but I wonder if the battery bays would fit the same battery. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it does.

 

na it doesn't fit, but you can get the Boston Power cells for around 70 USD, and it has 3 years warranty on top of that.
