    hi,

I just wanted to make sure I got it right - if somebody can advise - since I am planning on switching a couple of things whenever my T61 comes around (if ever):

    1. Is the fastest hard drive to take full advantage of the T1 the momentus 7200.2 160Gb ?
Is $160 a good price for that drive?

    2. What would be the best RAM? Crucial? I want to add another stick of 2Gb.

    Thanks :)

    Thank you.

Isn't the momentus 7200.2 much faster because of SATA II and perpendicular wrinting?

The 7K200 200GB is the king of laptop HDDs at the moment. Back that up with 4GB of RAM and you are golden. These are the two upgrades I have applied to my D630.

The Hitachi is the performance champ right now, but at twice the price, I think the Seagate offers much better value.

Buy memory on price. Almost all will work. I am using two sticks of Patriot memory in my R60. They seem to be doing OK. Unless you are running 64 bit Vista your machine will only see 3.2GB of memory. For most people 2GB is enough unless you have specific need.

Can anyone see a reason to recommend 120gb or 100gb 7200rpm drives over the 160 listed here?
