Hello all,
I just placed an order for a t61 15.4" thinkpad. The checkout price was $1323 which included the 10% july coupon. After the order went through I checked my email to see that the order had indeed been placed.
The price that showed up was $1460 and did not include the coupon!!
I tried calling Lenovo but their sales support is closed on the weekend. Is this just an error with the ordering system? Will my actually billed price be the $1323?
Has this happened to anyone else? I don't want to suggest bait and switch, but i'm not sure what to do at this point.
Attatched is my checkout price.

lol first off I call that you're mocking me and this didn't really happen, but just in case I'm going to give you the scoop anyways.
It's happened to about 5 or 6 people here, some of us have successfully gotten it fixed, but a few haven't. CS has admitted this is a glitch, when coupons don't get applied, and amount changes from what you AGREED to pay at order confirmation to a higher amount at email confirmation; yet they are not great about fixing it.
They treat it as a "price match", where you have to submit a quote from an independent order with identical configuration at identical (or lower) price. Price from this quote will be the same as when you put it together because hasn't been submitted yet (when the glitch changes it back to no coupon price). Catch is, most of us had to wait til AFTER it shipped to get the "price match", so you either choose to let it ship and charge at the higher price, to be price matched later, or cancel the order completely and reorder at correct price (which cs will do for you). Funny thing is, I chose cancel and they shipped it anyways of course. But they did eventually match it.
I sent them a quote from an independent identical order # as requested, a screenshot of my order confirmation at checkout (can't even believe I did that), and fatwallet's cashback email reflecting the correct price (info sent to fw FROM lenovo!). What's bad is someone else also had a screenshot (printout actually) of their order confirmation, and they got DENIED on that. Was told to put together another quote with identical price/specs to "price match", but their coupon had expired. Then another member was denied when sales simply told him "those coupons are for actual shareholders only", though they are lax about spp (most people who order are not shareholders, easy).
I had to fight them a while for it, and my coupon wasn't 10%, but a straight $250, made a difference of $270 match altogether to US studentswhen they FINALLY issued the credit. But meantime I was nervous and pissed.
Seems illegal, but not uncommon for LENOVO. Good luck.
EDIT- oh yeah most important thing if you didn't figure it out from the above. Go back and put together another order now IDENTICAL to the above, make no changes whatsoever. convert to quote and save that number. Call CS monday morning- maybe they'll just change it for you, but if not, then price match to the new order number (that will have the correct price). -
how do you create a quote?

ㅡㅡ;; i just ordered my t61 and the price in my email and lenovo account was the same

Just confirming: No issue regarding checkout pricing being different from conformation price for me.
I was actually worried about ordering today because of this thread, but so far so good. -
Jeffsiler look like the July coupon is applied. What state are you from? That do not look like the final checkout page. No state taxes have been applied or charged. The difference is probably state taxes.
-
Total checkout price on order confirmation is including taxes, same as what is sent via email. BOth (should) reflect what will be charged to your card. Both should be the same.

The same thing happened to me. I ordered on Saturday (7/21) and used the USPJULYT72 e-coupon. Every page showed the adjusted price, and, since I split the cost between two credit cards, I had to exactly enter the adjusted price. Then the order confirmation page shows that the e-coupon didn't apply.
I called then this morning, and the rep told me nothing can be done! What to do? -
I didn't have any problem when ordering my T61p this past weekend with EPP and the july coupon.

This happened to me a little while ago, but on an X60...I think someone else on the forum had it happen to them with the same coupon code I used. I called Lenovo early the next morning and a representative made me a new quote and e-mailed it to me. He didn't, however, cancel the actual order as I'd assumed he would after hearing my story. So, next day, I called the number on his e-mail, but got a different representative (seems to happen often with Lenovo) - I had it cancelled, but the new representative kept telling me the first order might be sent anyway, to accept it, call Lenovo, have it returned, etc, etc. He actually said this enough times that I just assumed it would be sent.
I had a couple other problems occur when they made the new quote, but they were handled pretty well. All in all, I made, I think, five calls were made (with five different reps!), but I think it's finally ended up okay - when I click on the link to the first laptop (the wrong one), I get an error message that the system can't find the order and I've received a tracking e-mail for the laptop with the correct price. Thankfully, I didn't have anyone doubt me or ask for proof of the shown price - in fact, no one really acted like it was strange at all (which is strange in and of itself). Though I'll reserve final judgement until the correctly priced laptop is actually in my hands, I think/hope it's ended up okay...
I think I bought the best laptop, but I'll agree, the experience was pretty unbelievable. One of the reps (number 3, I believe) told me she knew the whole thing was strange, but this was how things were working right now (with Lenovo, I guess?). -
Same thing happened with my T61 order that I placed on Friday. I called Lenove today and the CS rep told me the coupon was valid for the weekend. Since I ordered on Friday it didn't apply.
Anyway, the CS rep got authorization from his manager to manually apply the coupon. My online order status now reflects the correct price. -
This morning, I called to cancel the order and they manually applied the coupon. Of course, then they charged me again without cancelling the previous charges, so I've paid them twice! They say it'll be resolved within 2 days, but good grief!

Lenovo seems to be great about scamming people with overcharges or failing to post adjustments. I purchased my Z61t last August. The final price came to about $180.00 more than original checkout. I failed to get credit for a harddrive special. I finally was able to get some reduction but not all. Needless to say I won't ever purchase from Lenovo again for this and many other product related reasons.

6 CELL LI-ION BATERRY
I use SPP + 10% coupon -> $1016
+ Tax NY: $85.13 --> Final paymen from my credit card: $1101
I used Fatwallet cash back -> confirmed receive back 3.5% x 1016 = $35.5
I used AMEX credit card-> waiting to receive from Tailormade 5% x 1101 = $55
Price for my T61: 1101 - 35.5 - 55 = $1010
Will buy 1G Ram more -> Final price : $1010 + $40 = $1050
Is it a good deal ? Does the machine worth with this amount of money? I invested this money for my study in 5 year. Is this good ?
T61 billed price higher than checkout!
