Hey guys. I'm posting on behalf of a friend conducting field research in a remote location so simply buying a new laptop is not the easiest solution. So here is the problem. The laptop intermitently won't boot up. Pressing power button the laptop starts as normal lights flash but screen won't come on and a very week beep that dies off (not anything like the single beep for power supply error or motherboard error you would expect from post). When the laptop does boot normally date and time in windows is correct so not a CMOS battery issue.

Has anyone seen this fault before and know what it is or even better yet how to fix it??

    Sincerely Chris
