I have not used my laptop for the past 4-5 days. I used it today, and left it on for a while. When I came back, I found that it's off, and I can't turn it back on. None of the lights on the laptop were on.

I called customer service, and the CSR told me to do a power reset, which is to unplug the AC and take out the battery, press the power button 11 times, and hold it for 15 seconds on the 11th time, then plug the AC back. This did fix the problem and I was able to power it back.

Then I found that my wireles is not working. I have had this problem before, and was able to fix it by reseting the BIOS. So I restarted the computer, but I can't get into BIOS by pressing the thinkvantage button. The screen was blank and I can't power my computer on again.

I tried doing that power reset again, but this time it didn't work. So I called customer service again, and they told me to ship the computer to their depot to get it fixed.

Did anyone have this problem with their Lenovo? Or know what might be causing the problem. I didn't even use my T61 that much since I brought it, and have taken very good care of it, I don't know why it just died like this. Anyone knows any way I can fix it? I am also kind of hesitant of shipping my laptop to them. I have heard about laptops coming back cracked or missing screws and things like that. Any suggestions? This is my first laptop.

do you have onsite care? If you do just tell them the problem hasn't been resolved and they will probably just do a complete swap out of the motherboard. That sounds like what the problem is anyways.

This is the same exact problem I have. I'm feeling you...
I just got my T61p yesterday morning, I powered it on. It started updating itself. About an hour later, it asked to be restarted to install all updates. OK. Then it wouldn't power on anymore after that. The screen remains BLACK. The only LED lights that blink on are the AC/Battery Light and sometimes that little Z light. It is pathetic. I just received this brand new laptop. It died in my arms 1 hours after revival. WTF Lenovo?
