    I'm a new owner of a 14.1" widescreen T61 laptop.

With the lid closed, the frame creaks audibly when I press down with minimal pressure on any part of the lid. This is annoying because I carry my laptop to meetings every day - gripping the "bottom" edge of the laptop, the edge opposite from the battery - and it creaks pretty loudly in this position as I'm walking.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue, or is it just me?

I haven't noticed any creaking with my laptop. How new is it? Maybe the hinges just need to wear in a little bit.

Mine do the same thing. Mine is the 15.4 inch model. I noticed that when my screen is open (to normal view) for just a few minutes, then when you go to shut the lid, it creaks a bit. I would imagine that this is completely normal. This creak I'm hearing sounds like it's coming from both the metal hinges too. I would not worry about it.
