I am now using a T61 with 1 GB ram initially. I bought an OCZ 2GB PC2-5400 SODIMM 667MHz 200-pin but the T61 can only recognize it as a 1GB stick. With the initial 1 GB stick, the laptop recognize 2 GB, not 3 GB as it is supposed to.
Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it?

Have you tried installing the 2GB stick alone ?

ram chips are on both sides or only on one? i'm not sure if this should matter for T61, but might be worth checking...

Are you sure you got a 2GB Module ?
Try it in another notebook if possible.

Download CPU-Z, and with the 2GB stick installed, check the SPD info....

Run memtest86+ on your machine, see what it tells you.

I would also would make sure your memory is not running in dual channel...might be worth poking around in the BIOS.

I used Memtest86+ and it only told me that I have 2048MB of Ram avaliable while it does not indicate the 2048 MB is from which stick(s)
I did try putting only the 2GB stick a while ago and Vista only recognized 1 GB.

you mind giving us the manufacture and the model # for your ram? It's very strange that it only shows 1GB when you place the ram alone.

wow, after a while messing around, I found out that I did not install the second (the 1GB stick came with T61) properly. Well, problem solved now.

    Thanks a lot people,
    Have nice day :)
