Before I bought the T61, I didn't think the headphone jack being on the front edge of the laptop would bother me and for the most part it hasnt, but I've been craving better speakers than the standard ones. It is annoying how the wires get in the way when you plug in external speakers so I was wondering if anybody had a solution or any tips they'd like to share. :) hope that made sense.

Buy the dock, the jacks in the back.

I think one of main causes of the problem is that almost all the speaker cables have a straight plug on the end. An L-shaped plug (as used on many of the earphones) is more convenient. One option is to get a 3.5mm audio extension lead which has an L-shaped plug on one end. I've just bought one of these. The other option is to look for some speakers which work through the USB port.

Yep, either a dock or L shaped adapter. The T60 has headphone port on the left side of the laptop actually. What annoys me more is that the power adapter plugs in the back and not the side.

You could also buy a ExpressCard sound card. It'll be on the side of your laptop though.
