So I posted about this before and the recommendation was to clean the fan on my T61. Well I did and put it back together and everything works as before except the squeaking noise is still there when the fan is on (rotating, I can query the rpm from SpeedFan in Windows or lm-sensors on Linux). I'm 100% sure it's coming from the fan as the noise is coming from the upper left of the machine and the NOISE GOES AWAY when the fan is off (my CPU is cool enough) (RPM=0 from the above tools). Anyways now that cleaning the fan doesn't work I'm beginning to seriously suspect the fan is in the early stages of failing. Also when I move the laptop sometimes there's a mechnical squeaking noise that I'm pretty sure is from the fan (it's from the same area). Any other suggestions except for replacing the fan?![]()
It's been 2 years since the purchase of this laptop and the parts are already starting to fail! I thought Thinkpad quality was better than this and that's why I bought a Thinkpad! Goddamn it Lenovo! My warranty is expired too so I gotta replace the fan myself.![]()
