I got my t61 nine months ago. The last week the fan has become extremely noisy. Almost like it is vibrating as it spins. Any ideas?

have you tried cleaning it? it's possible it could be going out, but clean it first to be sure.

Yeah it probably needs to be cleaned. Follow Chaz's cleaning guide. I recommend getting a can of compressed air and blowing out the fan (while your laptop is turned off, otherwise it could damage the fans). If you still hear the noise after giving your fans a good cleaning you should probably contact Lenovo if you still have a warranty on it so they can take a look at it. The fan might need to be replaced. Hopefully it is just dirty though and you can clean it out yourself. :)

there have been other threads on this issue, if it is the same that i experienced. It sounded like it was hitting something on every rotation I had to send it in to get the fan replaced. good luck

I had the exact same problem with my t41 and t60p and I just sent my t60p for warranty to replace the fan. did I try to clean it? yes, but I think if it sounds like ur fan blades are hitting something, then it would probably need to be replaced.
