A co-worker asked me if a T-61 he spec'd out on Lenova's site was a good deal, so I checked it out, then I went and found a coupon for him at cheapstingybargains.com for another 10% off. - USPTIME2SAVE
He's going to purchase this. With their current sale and the coupon you can get it for $1267.65 !!! I'm tempted to buy one myself. Thought I'd share the deal though. He's choosing to get Win XP Pro, and only 1 GIG RAM (one stick) since he can upgrade it himself cheaper than IBM would.

They actually have deals like this all the time. 10% coupon is normal.
If your friend can wait out until around 4th of July or Labor Day, I think that's when their biggest deals are. -
Ah... he might wait for Labor day but I doubt he'll wait for the 4th. You think that'll go down much lower than 1260ish?
With the 2.5 processor and that vid card?

Double post
-
It's a good deal. But unless he's in a rush for it, waiting it out will get even better deals.
-
Well by the time of labor day new thinkpads would have came out and this model would become obsolete (but will be even cheaper as a result).
-
Obsolete? It's still a decently fast computer you know. My brother's still using a T42, and it's still running along just fine.
-
Err...the 4th of July is way before Labor Day...?
Actually, now that I look at it. ~$1,300 is a good deal for those specs. -
Actually, last year I think the best deal they had was their memorial day weekend sale. -
LOL, Oops, sorry, I always mix up Memorial day and Labor day.
Krista -
that is a very good deal
-
Yeah.. If you want it, get it. No matter how good the deals will be, they'll just be a $100 or so difference. Plus, ordering during the major sales may make you wait up to a month for the laptop to arrive.
-
Do you have any idea how much you can get off the dollar menu for $100?
-
Sorry, what do you mean?
-
The Dollar Menu in McDonald's restaurants in the United States consists of various products priced at $1. I'd doubt you Aussies would have the dollar menu, but I'm not too sure.
-
Ohh! THAT dollar menu..... We have that in Singapore, where I'm from. I'm just in Adelaide for studies. And, I don't really like McDonalds to begin with.

I got a similar config minus bluetooth for $1080.97 USD. I think that's a good deal considering that you get a faster hdd and somewhat better graphics card. But I have 3gb of ram with my price as well.
-
If you were to buy the configuration you have picked out, I'd suggest dropping the amount of RAM down to 1GB and upgrading it on your own. It's always cheaper to due this by yourself - you can get a nice 2GB stick for $40 regularly. Save yourself some money for the faster hard drive or whatnot.

Someone else mentioned this, and it was after I placed the order that I realized it on my own and then heard it from others - duh, I could've done that cheaper, I thought to myself. Ah, well. Hindsight is 20/20 and I could kick myself for not having done it!
T61 found an amazing deal.
