Hi everyone. So I reformatted my computer last night. I previously had 32-bit Vista Business, now I have 64-bit Vista Business. To be honest, everything was fine before, but I just got some more ram and wanted to make use of the 4 gb.

I installed all my drivers and had everything was done. I noticed the top left area was a lot hotter than before so I installed tpfancontrol and CPUID HWMonitor. Both gave me temps of 88C to 94C. My Quadro 140M is also around 80C.

Any ideas as to what's going on? I did set power plan to max performance, but I don't think the temps should be getting anywhere near this high anyway.

    Thanks.

have you tried blowing out your laptop with compressed air?

also I would consider dropping it to balanced for now just so you dont fry anything

Getting the latest power manager from Lenovo should help as well.

Thanks guys. I already cleaned out the vents and have the latest power manager.

I don't know if this did the trick or not, but I installed an older version of the power manager that I had. On balanced mode, the temps seem to have leveled off to around 60C and GPU at 67C.

But when I set it to high performance, the temps seem to just up and down for hitting 71C and 72C max for cpu and gpu. I'll keep searching around.

Thats still hot for being idle. It won't fry anything but its not normal.

Is your CPU being used intensely? Maybe with a fresh install its busy doing a lot of background processes that were already completed on your old windows? I dunno
