When I set it to "Max Performance" instead of "Thinkpad Default" it makes a screeching noise. Why does it do this?, on Thinkpad Default it is so quite!! Set your T61 to Max Performance and run it on battery and tell me if you hear a noise.

My T61 is fine with Max Performance on battery. Can you pinpoint where the noise is coming from?

They noise it coming from the middle of the laptop where the trackpoint is about. It sounds like the processor is being worked hard or something.

Yes, it's high pitched. It's for sure coming from the CPU.
