No matter how high I turn up the volume the speakers are making no sound. Even when I plug in headphones also nothing. It is probably something stupid but what can I do to fix this?

Open up Device Manager. Are there any unknown/missing devices?

You may have you reinstall your audio driver.

    Also, which OS?

Might be the driver issue as it happens always.

If all else fails, you might try reinstalling the driver.

[IMO, the Lenovo Thinkpad audio drivers are crap!]
