Looks like they ran out of video cards...

Yeah, and selecting the Media Card Reader also says it will delay your order. Estimated ship date now says "Call".
Looks like my June 7 date ain't gonna make it. -
Even if you selected the internal Intel video graphics it also states this may delay your order. Selecting Vista home basic, media card reader and office could delay the order. Thats sad...cause half of the components you may want would actually delay the order.
Come on lenovo...get your act together -
Selecting a thinkpad may delay your order.

I think Lenovo might be catching on to this recent wave of EPP orders... probably taking their time to investigate what's really going on.

I think it has something to do with lenovo's marketing policy. They either want to maintain a high end+high price marketing strategy or change to high end+moderate price to populate the market. Of course they have to do the calcuation and it depends on their productivity.
My guess is that some Lenovo guy leaked the EPP information just to increase the sale, another trick of marketing.
There is not once on Lenovo's site which does not offer you a crossed-out price and a discounted price. Lenovo has this habit of playing price tricks instead of being forceright with it.
Since I am not a marketing expert so I will leave the sound explanation and judgement to some business major in this forum. But my theory is that because Thinkpad target itself at big corporations and government (sometimes with extortionate prices), it can reap a lot of profits withouth having to populate the market.
However, eventually Lenovo will have to face encroachment from other laptop manufacturers such as HP for two reasons:
1. the quality of other brands are in par with thinkpads or better in certain ways. (for example, my HP dv2000t's multimedia functions featuring Altec Lansing speakers). Macbooks are also serious threat to Thinkpads.
2. laptops become more and more disposable than before. After three years, laptops are still usable but is already far behind the technology. People can buy a cheap one and change for a better one in a few years.
Besides, lenovo's own bad moves. Such as the delayed parts, noise and heat problems, price tricks, restocking fee and inagility to adopt new technology will also tip the scale of the competition. For example, how long does it take for lenovo to change from the mentality that 'business laptops do not need webcams or smart media card' to a T61 design? And what about widescreen? Now where are the people who argue that webcams are simply not for Thinkpads?
It all up to what's in the head of Lenovo's CEOs what policy to adopt. One option, obviously, is to make profits by reducing the price and sell more. But so far, lenovo's productivity is a question mark considering the delayed delivery of T61s. -

the T61 looks like a winner, they priced it nicely too (seems like the T60 and T42's were much more expensive for p versions) -
EPP was not just some marketing ploy. They're already red-flagging and cancelling fraudulent EPP orders as we speak. I'm cancelling mine today.

If they are making money at a reduced price, why not simply produce more and sell more with that price? -
Come-on guys, Get over yourselves you're NOT that important... -
The pricing on T series is Lower than ever--since this morning...
T61 on order... NO NVidia's left...
