I'm ready to order a T61 but unsure about a couple of things:

My uses are MS office and maintaining our company website - do I need a dedicated video card and what are the benefits of a dedicated card? Also, I'm concerned about the reported lack of brightness of TP displays - is there any difference in brightness between the 14.1" WXGA and the 14.1" WXGA+?

Finally, is the difference in price worth it to increase ram from 2 gigs to 3? I intend to run XP Pro but will probably ultimately switch to Vista Business.

    Thanks for your input.

    Hey,

    I believe that 14.1 WXGA is 1280 x 800 and about 175 nit. The WXGA+ is 1440 x 900 and is about 200 nits.

The only difference is you get a 1.3 megapixel camera with the WXGA. In my opinon its not a very good deal. The camera is not very good, it only depends on if you actually need a camera or not, you can always buy one from best buy or something for 20$.

Lenovo Also charges alot from 1GB to 3GB. I suggest putting it in yourself. There is a great guide on this forum on how to do it on the T60/T61.

My WXGA+ screen is bright enough, never had any problems with it, even in very well lit places. I can't compare it to a WXGA because I don't have one available, but it is not that bad compared to my old Asus laptop screen (matte vs glossy). And scratch the 3GB of RAM, you can buy and install it yourself for cheaper.

MS Office and website development? I don't think dedicated graphics will help any there. I say stick with integrated and gain that extra 40 minutes of battery life.
