I have owned this T61 for nearly a year. Recently, it started freezing
sometime. The OS has been fully reinstalled, but the problem did not go away
. Then, I found the CPU temperature is very high, over 60C even when it is
idle. The GPU (nvida 140m) temperature is over 70C. I tried to use TP fan
control, but even I set the fan to the highest speed, the CPU cannot be
cooled down much. I remembered the CPU temperature during idle is below 40C
    before.

Do you also think the freezing problem is related to the overheating? In
addition, I also add 2 gb crucial ram recently. If it is, it seems I should
send the whole unit to lenovo.

    Thank you.

The freezing problem can very much be related to overheating.
When was the last time you cleaned the heatsink/fan in your laptop?

As Gophn always says, clean the vents and then get a cooler.

    Thanks for your reply,steve.
When I installed the new ram about two weeks ago, I also checked the fan and used a ball air blower blow some dust away. It seems that the freezing prolbems become frequently after that...
