Safari for Windows doesn't work that well. It renders text just as it does on OS X, which is what makes the text look fuzzy and bad. In OS X, it looks fine, but in Windows, Safari looks really bad.

It does load webpages really quickly though.

Well, you know, it's Apple. What makes you think they will make anything good for Windows ??? LOL

I'd recommend IE7 or Firefox, which you choose is purely preference.

Why would laptop manufacturer or model have anything to do with how a browser runs?

Anyway, Safari is fine and the font problem can be fixed as far as I know but Safari on anything is pointless. Either use Opera for a fast browser or Firefox for an extendable browser.

Itunes and Quicktime run very poorly on my Windows machines. I don't think Safari will run any better.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Safari is fine, and I think the purpose for Safari for Windows is for iPhone development and web development encourage developper and design give better Safari support for Mac

"Why would laptop manufacturer or model have anything to do with how a browser runs?"

This question doesn't have much to do with how a browser runs. A GUI based operating system has core methodogies for rendering and the way they represent fonts. Operating systems are by no means interchangeable in this regard.

"On their 'Thinkpad'"? Is there any difference between safari, say, on HP and IBM?

It would have to do with compatibility with the OS not the hardware...also, most pcs have the same guts anyways

and this is an ibm/lenovo thread---you sound like you are trying to be coy with your quote

FYI, you can adjust the amount of font smoothing on the latest beta. They have also fixed some of the problems with going Back/Forward and scrolling with mice.

Safari works fine on vista. I even use it to visit 'unsafe' sites with turned off cookies and addons.
