cool, thanks for sharing.
by the way, how are you getting that MSNBC feed? -
Those are some nice pictures, best variety of T61 pics I've come across so far. Man, those desktop icons are mighty large.
I'm not fond of the sound connections on front, now that you are showing it in use. -
I agree, it seems like they'll get in the way a lot.
-
Great pictures , what was your feeling when the delivery guy handed you that sealed box? lol
-
Well, he isn't using right-angle plugs, and that's not common these days. You have to figure Lenovo assumed most would.
-
Yeah the plugs in the front look ridiculous.
The bazel is so chunky...
But how do you like it so far ?
-
How did you get the traditional IBM logo instead of the new Thinkpad logo?
-
It seems that as long as you are a consumer and not ordering through a business or corporate account you will automatically receive the classic IBM ThinkPad logo. Even if you do order through a business or corporate account my understanding is that you may choose your logo of preference: the new trendy ThinkPad logo or the tri-colored, retro interlaced, classic IBM ThinkPad logo. Keep in mind that a week from now this could all change and the classic logo could be phased out forever! Scary times we live in.

looks gorgeous
Hopefully I'll have a T61 by the end of summer

Most plugs are right-angled ones? You certain? I'm quite sure almost all speaker plugs are straight in. It wouldn't make sense to have angled ones when you think about the back of a computer case. At least none of my speakers are.
Wow! How many laptops are you buying? M1210, D630, M1330, T61?! -
Chuck - It's not like I'm going to buy them all.
My next will be one of the following, T61, M1330, or Dell Tablet XT -
thx for the pics........
-
wow that laptop really looks offcentered, that would bother the heck our of me. Or am i the only 1 seeing it?
-
that was done intentionally to make space for the wireless antenna. it doesnt look too bad to me.
Most of the better headphones on the market do NOT have angled jacks unfortunately. -
I don't understand why the standard 14.1'' and the 15.4W models can have the outputs on the side... and this has it in the front...
It's just wrong
- -
does it matter so much? if so, get an adapter
-
How old are your speakers? I haven't seen a pair of desktop speakers or headphones in the last decade that didn't have right-angle plugs. They're designed this way for stress relief. Use on a laptop is one of the prime reasons they're made. Only studio 1/8" plugs are usually still straight, although there's a lot of right-angled plugs on those cables too.
-
The speaker plugs for my desktop and large cupped headphones are all straight, the only angeled plugs I've seen are on ear buds and headphones for mp3/cd players.
I think straight plugs for multiple plug-ins for speakers. So they can easily fit next to each other (it'll be harder to have a bunch of right angeled plugs plugged into a sound card). -
I have an old crappy 2 speaker system which has an angeled plug but my newer Sennheiser HD280 headphones don't. *shrug*. I hate front audio plugs either way.
-
How good are those headphones? How old?
I don't see how. I've had 3 right-angled plugs inserted in a soundcard at once. (No dirty jokes, please)
-
I have a pair of the Bose QC2 headphones which are a decent mid range headphone. They have a right angled plug.
