Could You help me plese overclock my gpu.
Actually i'm using windows 7 enterprise 64 bit and 285.62-notebook-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe.
I boosted up clocks in Rivatuner and Nvidia system tools but the setting wasn't saved when open it again. I see again 400/600![]()
What seems to be a problem? What should i do?
-
T61 and nVIDIA? Are you aware of the infamous nVIDIA bug which is affecting most T61(p) units featuring a discrete GPU? Are you sure you were not searching for a way to underclock your nVIDIA GPU?
-
What do You mean? Overclocking is deadly to Quadro NVS 140M in my T61 14" ?
According to this:
I don't get it. How did He make it?! -
with rivatuner.
Running long time at 55% overclock, LOL, 625MHz core and 950MHz memory. I went a bit lower to have some margin of error due to temperature fluctuations.
in rivatuner where you change your clocks, look below where it says "apply overclocking at windows startup" and check that.
I use 178.74 drivers as with the 2xx.xx it didn't work with that high clocks the first time those drivers got published (not at the lenovo site). Never bothered changing drivers again though.
P.S. make sure you use TPFancontrol to run your fan at max speed as well when needed. -
I'd suggest that you properly inform yourself about the risks and benefits of a nVIDIA based T61 , and then you draw your own conclusions based on what you learned from your investigations. Good luck with your endeavour!

You're going to kill your laptop. Unless that's what you want or can afford to have happen, then go right ahead.
-
wow, maybe i shoul sell this laptop and buy something else ?
-
You might be lucky with your T61, so just keep it until it breaks. But then again, a T500 is probably much better in many regards, while still being backwards compatible to many T61 components (docking station, keyboard, display panels). Also, given the uncertainty of the T61's remaining lifetime due to the nVIDIA GPU, i'd already look around for a suitable replacement. See 635845-total-t61-nightmare-2.html#post8204701 for further inspiration.

I've got 2 profiles in Rivatuner @ my R61.
"Default" profile @ 200 MHz, which is being set at boot (powersaving),
And the second profile @ 600 MHz, which I manually trigger by hotkeys when I really need some power
It's, IMO, best solution - try it by yourself
-
I would seriously consider selling it and replacing it before it dies. Once it's dead, it's not worth much.
-
should I consider selling mine too ?
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Considering T61's aren't worth that much anymore, shouldn't really worry about it. If you can sell it, then sell it. Worst case is you can part it out or attempt to reflow it..
-
Or reflow and then sell it without warranty
(which is my plan btw). -
well my question was kind of rhetorical, and since the computer has been working so good I'm not even thinking of selling it.
cheers. -
my old T61 from university is a great punching bag (no dGPU).
It can withstand pretty much any physical abuse and works.
Newegg is selling refurb 1 for 200(no dGPU) so I probably wont hassle to sell it. -
If you've got a T61 without the dedicated nvidia graphics, then I'd keep it. That thing will last forever. T61/T500 chasis were the last models built with a rollcage for the LCD.
-
This is true. On the other hand, they're also some of the last models built with CCFL-backlit LCDs, so it's a bit of a trade-off.
-
What is a rollcage LCD?
One thing for sure though, the default color of T61 LCD is ...... -
it's a magnesium-alloy cage behind the LCD that is supposed to protect it from physical damage somewhat. And I kinda like it though, makes the display feel tough when you move it.
