My battery is dying, and need a replacement. I dont want to pay 100 dollars or more for the Lenovo brand ones.
How reliable are the cheap ones? I'm talking about 3rd party $20-30 6 cell batteries.
Has anyone tried them? Impressions?
here is a typical cheap replacement battery:
Battery fr Lenovo IBM Thinkpad R61 R61i T61 14inch Wide | eBay

It seems like a generic battery made by a 3rd party that I wouldn't touch at all.
-
Laptopcharge.com - thats where we get replacement batteries for the T6x and T500 machines that we have on our network.

You take a risk when you buy a 3rd party battery.
Sometimes they might work and sometimes they won't.
I've bought 2 3rd party batteries over the years, one worked and one wouldn't be read by the machine at all. -
The only batteries that we ran into an issue with from Laptopcharge were for X61 - they would work, but the system would generate an error when you were in the OS that you werent running an OEM battery. Other than that, performance was on par with OEM

where can I order geniune lenovo battery for a cheaper price than lenovo.com?

One person there was selling a 6-cell T60/61 battery for a non-wide thinkpad for $26. You should be able to find one at a good price.
