This was shipped with my order for T61 14'' + screen.

    part # 42V9324 SBB 14.1WXGA +TFT,W/OCAM.

Wondering if this will have any way of determining between LG or Samsung screens. The order is now shipped. Would appreciate any info if at all possible. Thanks

why shoot yourself in the foot before you even get it. first i would get the laptop, make your own judgement and then worry about who made the lcd. the whole screen issue on this forum makes people pull the panic trigger too quick. enjoy it.

you can go to the parts list for the model you ordered and see for yourself.

At the same time, Lenovo isn't Dell, you can't get the system, decide that the screen stinks, and then just send it back without incurring a large fee. So a certain amount of panic might be justified. Keep in mind that it costs a customer $150 to return a $1000 system, plus shipping, even if the LCD is of inexcusably poor quality.

It's already shipped, You're going to pay the re-stocking fee either way. Why get all bent out of shape over something you haven't even seen yet? There's too much of this on these forums in my opinion. Decide if you like it or not after you've seen. Then go from there.

Actually, if you don't open the box and return it, you won't be charged the restocking fee (this happened to me recently). Tell them you had called in to cancel before they shipped it (which happened in my case).

Mine was shipped today as well with the same part number listed for the screen: 42V9324. No idea what that means.

I would imagine that Lenovo keeps track of when a customer calls in to cancel though.

Here's Lenovo's return policy from their website:

" Lenovo will accept the return or exchange of a product in its original, sealed package for a full refund in cases of Lenovo error. Returns allowed for any other reason will be subject to a restocking fee equal to 15% of the purchase amount. All returns must be initiated within 21 days of the invoice date. Lenovo does not provide refunds or credits for portions of a packaged offering provided at a single price or for preloaded programs installed by Lenovo. For service and warranty issues, contact warranty support at 1 800 426 7378. For inquiries relating to third party (non Lenovo) products, contact the third party directly."

CTO systems incur a restocking fee regardless of whether the box is opened.

Thanks to everyone for advice. Just got it, have to say real quick delivery. Ordered 5/26, ship date on order 6/9. Screen is nice. I'm happy with it. Solid build and weight not bad. Be glad to answer any ?'s or concerns if it'll make things easier trying to decide about pulling the trigger.

I, too, have this part number: 42V9324. Would that be an LG or a Samsung? I was unable to find it on the website.

Just to clarify, you ordered it on 5/26 and already received it?

Appreciate all the interesting links and info you provided. After searching through 'parts lookup results' for my type/serial, never did come up with the screen but this showed up.........42X3370 0000000 14.1 WXGA+ W/O BT W/O CAMERA W/ WWAN W/O......... and 42T0456 42T0412 14.1 INCH LCD DISPLAY FRU YES.
42T 0466 glossy screen 14.1 wxga was the only # close.

Below is part of actual purchase confirmation, showing purchase date.Trying to save some space . Did get 100gb 7200 hd. And only 4cell battery.
Arrived yesterday. I'm happy with the screen. Spent most of the time cleaning out vista home basic and the junk programs included and also got ubuntu hh and fedora 9 up and running.Seems to be working well.

glad your ok with your purchase. thats proof that this forum sometimes gives the wrong impressions on the whole LCD issue. People should all get their own impressions before they start getting too excited about part numbers. Enjoy it.

    go to Lenovo Parts Lookup:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/s...=/partslookup/partsLookup.vm&sitestyle=lenovo
Enter your Serial number and type (usually 4 digits). I guess you could get the serial number from the box and enter that into parts lookup to see what the laptop it contains has...if it has a samsung then you could return it without a hitch since you have never opened it.

Find the codes on the line that says WXGA screen or whatever, "LCD..."

    Go to http://search.lenovo.com/search/?en=utf&v=14&lang=en&cc=us&lv=c&q=lcd+service+parts+t61+14.1&x=0&y=0
Find the right LCD service part list for your Thinkpad model (t61p...t60, t61, 14 inch, 15 inch, etc.) Search on the Lenovo site for the right LCD service part listing for your model.

On the correct LCD service part listing, use your browser's find function to find the part numbers that correspond to those given to you by parts lookup. It should say LG or Samsung.

I used 7662 as the "type," since that's the model t61 that's listed on my invoice, and entered the serial #, but under "Parts shipped with your system" it says " No parts to list."

this is precisely why it is foolish to believe others unquestionably as they bemoan their screen quality. Most of it is just so much silliness. Glad to hear you are happy with yours, cvcnbr

You shouldn't be so dismissive of the issues that some of the other forum members have faced. Very foolish as well.

No no...I don't think that I know better than Abraham Lincoln. I do however remember reading that Abe was slightly disappointed with certain aspects of his Thinkpad as well, and that was back when it was still IBM.

Just got my 761 today. The MFG part# for my screen is 42T0456 and the FRU is 42T0412. FWIW, I'm very happy with it. No complaints at all about the screen.
