How is it? I've seen some people that say it's great and other that say it is too dim. Does Lenovo have the stats (such as the brightness in nits) anywhere?
-
i don't think they have the stats anywhere but my screen (LG Phillips) is very nice, very bright, and very minimal light leakage.
-
Which laptop screen are you looking for the stats on? I can tell you that the SXGA+ screen is 150 nits and if you are looking for a bright screen, this is not the one. It is a bit dim. To be honest though I never have it turned up all the way on the brightness.
-
I've had two T61 LG screens. Both had moderate but non-impactful light leakage and very good brightness.
-
I have the 150 nit panel on my R60. It's basically as bright as you need it to be. Cranked all the up it looks good, but it can look dim if the room is well lit.
-
I'm looking at the 14" T61 and the T61p. 150 seems quite low compared to other screens, doesn't it? Dell claims that the 1420 has 200 nits.
I've never had a laptop though so I don't have any experience with any particular brightness. -
well, i have the 15.4" t61p...and i can tell you that it's plenty bright for me. but i never turn it all the way up...the whites get too bright.
-
Thinkpads have never been known for high quality screens, just high quality, durable laptops. The SXGA+ screens have a particularly bad rap for being kinda dim and kinda crappy with contrast, you can't judge it until you see it though. -
Wuzer, any chance you can take pictures in a darkened room? If it's not too much trouble, that is. I know I'm probably being a pain in the ass.
Thanks for answering my questions.

There is some. The screen is showing a lot of blue party because it needed to be calibrated and partly because the camera really brought it out for some reason, it didn't look nearly that blue when taking the pics, and actually looks really nice once I did ran some free calibration software. I have other pics but I can't figure out how to share a photobucket folder. -
That doesn't look as dark as I thought it would. Interesting.

Here's a couple shots of my r60:

Took just a few minutes to run though all the steps. Tell me what you think. -
-
yes, they use whatever screen is available at the time.
sorry i haven't uploaded the pictures yet meh_cd...been busy lately but i will get around to it soon! -
When you do get those pictures could you let me know who manufactured the screen? -
sure thing!
my screen is manufactured by LG Phillips. I know that from PC Wizard 2007.
i will repost the manufacturer with the pictures as well. -
sorry for the long delay. but here are some pictures for you.
the first few pictures are just viewing angles / brightness levels in a dark room. the display is turned to half brightness.
These next few pictures are the computer with a blank screen screensaver taken in a completely dark room to capture light leakage. Display is turned up to maximum. As you can see, there is little to almost no light leakage!
hope this helps! if you need any more pictures in different conditions, feel free to ask! -
Thank you wuzer, they look great. I'll be joining your camp soon.
-
sweet =]
i'm sure you'll be amazed with the laptop as i was. -
Not bright enough unfortunately...one of the few if any drawbacks on the system.
-
what kind of screen do you have? since yours is a 14.1" model, i'm assuming it has a different screen than mine.
T61 screen brightness?
