I recently picked up a T61 with the 15.4" 1680x1050 display. Coming from a T42 with FlexView, I was really surprised by how bad the screen looked. Not only was the viewing angle terrible, but the colours looked dark and completely off. I do a good bit of photo editing, so I was quite concerned about the colour issue. A lot of what I do is black and white, and I was finding transitions to light areas looked bright purple!

I have a hardware monitor calibrator, and I finally got around to running it on the T61. The difference is like night and day! It's hard to believe they are the same monitor. The viewing angle still sucks, but all the colour issues are vastly improved. I can't believe how bad the original Lenovo calibration was. To top if off, Photoshop even told me it couldn't read the Lenovo colour profile properly! I have never seen an LCD that was so far off.

If you have access to monitor calibration hardware, DO IT NOW!
