    hi,

just received my T61 14" ws, i guess i got the worst screen, there is a dead pixel right in the center of the screen, one thing that really worries me is that you just touch it and you see ripples all over the screen, is this the case with everyone or its just lucky me?

You touch directly on your lcd and you get ripples?

Its an LCD screen. LIQUID crystal display. I guess you've never had an LCD before? Any time you press directly on an LCD screen, yes you will see funny colors/waves.

Does the lid close, does it click in place? How much gap in the lid? A mm or so? Why worry? Is the gap going to swallow you whole one night while you are sleeping? The more you pick for problems the more meaningless little things you are going to find.

Contraian view presented as an analogy: your new BMW or MBZ has a divet on the front winshield and the hood is misaligned. Would you be thrilled and expecred better from a car fabrique aux Germany?

first of all..are you sure it is a dead pixel? what color is it? if it is any color besides black, it is a stuck pixel and that WILL and CAN be fixed easily.

How big is the gap and is on the right or left side of the notebook? a 1mm gap on the left hook is normal

Sure I'd be pissed. I'd definitely be pissed about a dead pixel, never said I wouldn't be. Getting upset because your liquid crystal display ripples when you press on it is... ignorant. When I find that divet on my windshield you can bet I'll be complaining to the manufacturer, not BWMForums.com.... Anyway, Lenovo has already told customers that they will replace lids that don't fit right, not that its going to help in every case, but .....

do you have a link to this info? that 1mm gap in my left hook kind of bothers me...but nothing i would want replaced right away...maybe down the line

this is only because I was spoiled by the TIGHT closing lid of my old t40 with absolutely no play

I also have to make sure i have to press down in the middle for both of my hooks to hook in. My old t40, i was able to shut the lid from the far right or left corner and the entire thing would click shut

I don't have a link. I remember someone saying they called and lenovo would replace their lid for them. Not sure how it ever turned out but I think they decided they didn't want to waste the time anyway. I'm not sure if it was on this board or on thinkpads.com

well, i had a dell latitude before, and it didn't have this much of an effect on pressing lcd, but again t61 is much better overall, and its definitely a stuck pixel, how do i get rid of that, eyecon?

please search my previous posts..it was in a thread about the lenovo depot to a user name thietlong (not sure of exact spelling) I would answer, but I have rotations tomm very early and can't take the time to explain.

Him/her and I went back and forth for about 8 posts explaining how to do this and it finally went away for him/her....maybe around 30-40 posts ago..don't quote me on that number

    Yep, here's the post
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=180054&page=2

and it ended up midway page 3 or so. As an update to my situation, I think the time lapse is getting longer now, I am able to get it to disappear a couple of minutes, but unfortunately it's reappear again afterward. So I am pretty much going to keep jabbing at it (not literally of course) until this annoying thing decided to disappear for good.

it should go away soon...try to leave your screen on for a long time...ie; overnight and it should dissapear quicker
