    Hi guys,

I'm about to buy my first thinkpad and am deciding between the T61 14.1" (WXGA, WXGA+) and the 15.4" (WXGA, WSXGA+). I did a lot of research on this issue and have found a lot of complaints about screen quality for both on this forum.

Recently, there have been a lot of gripes about the 15.4" WSXGA+ made by Samsung...I was a bit surprised because I thought in terms of quality, this was the best option for the T61.

My questions are: Should I wait until Lenovo resolves this issue or go ahead and get a T61 anyway (they are really cheap right now)? Which screen option should I definitely stay away from (because of poor quality)? Thanks. :)

the 15.4" WSXGA like any screen is luck of the draw. Get the screen size and resolution you want and see what happens. You can't single out "one" screen as different brands can go on different computers at time of assembly

Yeah, go with what resolution you want to have, along with the size notebook you want. You're not guaranteed a specific panel on the day your machine is assembled.

My only complaints about my WXGA+ screen is that it may not be bright enough depending on my situation, and that it's caused my vision to worsen (but that's my fault).

Wait as long as possible to buy, unless the prices are really great. I would see if there is a solution (Dell has the same problem only they have better customer support). I really like the thinkpad (especially the matte finish), but I do have a bad screen. We should here back from Lenovo this week on the screens, so you may only need to wait a week.
