I called Lenovo today to see what the deal is with my laptop that I ordered on 6/30. They said that the hd is the cause of the delay(supposed to ship August 25th) So I was wondering If I changed my order to just buy the bare minimum hd and bought my own do you think this would end the delay? I need the laptop before school starts in th emiddle of august because I am planning on doing a clean install of vista then partition with linux. I was looking around a found a 250 gb hd for $190 so I thought I owuld buy that and just put it in?
So....should this speed up my order?
Any problems with this plan?

it might, you won't know till you try. sometimes certain parts cause delays and it's just easier to buy the base line part and upgrade yourself later

It is just a staight swap between hd's right?

There's actually a guide on IBM/Lenovo's site.

I did the same thing you did.. but I believe I've seen you in my other thread about the HDD. Just kept the 60 and for about $4 more I bought my own HDD. Now I can turn the 60 into an external drive or sell it. -
