Just got off the phone with a Lenovo rep. He said that lenovo was waiting on a component for the T61. That they do not anticipate shipping any until the end of June. The lenovo rep. also said that they will not start selling the the 15' T61 until the middle of June. If you go to Lenovo web site and try to configure a T61, its says to " *call" for availability. That is why I called and talked to the rep. THAT IS A LONG WAIT for a notebook. I GUESS I WILL now seriouly check out the Dell 630.(which got a Editor's Choice review at cnet).![]()

Yep, some forums says it is the nvidia cards. I dont know. The lenovo rep would not say.

It doesnt matter if you select Nvidia Card or Intel Graphics...both options show it will be delayed...LOL
Lenovo must be getting swamped today with calls after the long holiday weekend. I had to hold almost 30 minutes before talking to someone.
Here is the scoop:
There is a bug on the website with the expected delivery dates, but they probably won't be corrected until the notebook actually ships out. Once it ships then the date will change and the tracking information should be there.
Now the BAD NEWS. The sales rep has confirmed there are delays with the T61. Today they received an email from the supply manager confirming there is a delay due to an internal part that was on backorder. They're expecting the part to come in by June 2nd and then laptops will go into production for building them. At the earliest laptops won't ship out until June 4th.
Also some may have noticed certain options are now missing from the Lenovo website. You can no longer configure a T61 with the T7700 processor or with Vista Business 64bit. I inquired about this with the sales rep and he had to do some investigating. After holding another 5 minutes he confirmed that there is a delay in the 64bit OS. It's probably due to compatibility issues since there OS has already been released from Microsoft. The sales rep thought it was because they don't have the 64bit disks to burn the image, but I doubt that. The 64bit OS has been out since January so I think there may be a compatibility issue with the drivers/software. I was given an estimate that the OS will be ready 2nd week of June.
The T7700 processor is on backorder and was confirmed with the supply manager. They're not expecting them to be in stock until the 3rd week in June. This means that a laptop I ordered on May 9th may not get delivered until late June or early July which would mean almost 2 months from my order date. Thats just INSANE.
I actually wanted to get a laptop with the built in camera so the sales rep said he could reorder it and put it on the critical list. Then after realizing there was a backorder on the processor and OS he said he couldn't even reorder the T61 with my original config because the 64bit OS and processor isn't an option anymore. -

I tried calling and sent an email asking for an update as my ship date was changed to August 30th. After dialing the number on the email I received confirming my order, no matter what selection I make, I just get a busy signal. So much for customer service.

They have my email address because I have an account.
My estimated ship date before now was June 5

Do you have a user account or something to login and check the status on your order? If you do then you're just fine and don't really need the confirmation email.

I tried logging in and just got an error message.

all orders get a confirmation email. if you did not, then call and tell them to look up your order and ask for the invoice to be emailed to you. If they cant find you, then you have no ordrer.

oh I did get a confirmation email a couple days after I ordered it, but I got no email regarding a delay.
They may have concelled my order, due to the EPP discount controversy, I'll check tommorow -
oh, I personally havent received any emails regarding the delay. I only posted the quoted internal memo, because my sales rep sent me that after I inquired about the odd shipping date (Aug)

Yeah, same here....I received the confirmation the day after the order is placed and I did call in and confirmed that the order is there, but I did not receive this e-mail that explains or informs me that my order may be delayed.
