I took apart my laptop to assess damage that was done to the power plug in the back when the battery stopped taking a charge. This process involved taking out the HDD, ram, keyboard, bezels, etc. After putting the computer back together (carefully an according to the owners manual) and rebooting, the BIOS popped up, and I esc'ed out of it, only to get a stop error.

I know this has to do with the boot volume not being able to be accessed, and I am wondering what could be causing this issue, since there was no hardware change... everything was just pulled out. I have double-checked that the hard drive is seated correctly.

Any help that you can give would be great.

Fixed it. I had pulled out the backup battery, which reset the BIOS. I changed the SATA setting in the BIOS to Compatibility, and it booted fine.
