yesterday i installed the turbo memory into my thinkpad t61.
however the pci-e slot that i installed the turbo memory into had no screws in it. as such i took out some of the other screws in the laptop (one from the wireless card, and one from the modem) to see if they would work. The wireless card screw is as far as i can tell the same as the screws that hold in the keyboard and wrist rest, and was too long for holding in the turbo memory. The screw from the modem (silver one, about half a cm long or even shorter than that) seemed to be the right fit and so i am using it.

So at the moment i have 1 screw each holding in my turbo memory card and the modem, while this is probably ok, i'd feel better if i had 2 screws each. does anyone know the part number or specification for the screws on the modem? Alternatively, could i just remove the modem completely? or is that also the gigabit ethernet ?

    thanks!

I thought the turbo memory was supposed to be useless?

it might be, but i had one (got it a couple months ago from amazon for $22). So i figure i might as well use it.

From this article http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3009&p=8 it looks like it might provide at least a bit of a battery boost, which is a plus for me.

buy the screw kit from Lenovo parts. You really shouldn't only have one on each.
congrats on hacking into your compy tho. haha.
