Hi guys, first of all, thanks a lot to whoever wrote guide for clean vista/xp install for thinkpad :)

I bought two 320gb WD sata 3gb/s hdds and sata ultrabay slim adapter, and external usb odd so i don't have to swap odd/hdd.

I did all the installations correctly, installed vista64 in main hdd and xp32 in ultrabay hdd, everything went well.

However, somehow I can't be convinced that ultrabay hdd is working in s-ata interface.

there are few things that are making me confused.

    1. in devices list, there are two hdds, one is WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0 , which is main hdd, and another one is WDC WD3200BEVT-22ZCT0 ATA Device, which is ultrabay hdd.

    2. in IDE ATA/ATAPI controller section, there are IDE channel, Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller, and Inter(R) ICH8M Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 2850. I tried to update third one with SATA driver but it refused to be updated. btw sata is set to AHCI in bios

    3. Intel matrix storage console only shows main hdd in it's hdd tree. ultrabay hdd is not shown here.

From what I've learned from this forum, main hdd is supposed to work in sata 3gb/s and ultrabay hdd in sata 1.5gb/s

I ran hdtune test for both drives and ultrabay one appeared to be little bit slower than main hdd.

I don't really care about that difference (about 1 to 2 MB/s difference in max/min/burst reading speed), but I care about things like NCQ. I just want to make sure 2nd hdd is running in true sata interface, not in ATA/IDE or compatibility mode)

Does anyone know if this is supposed to be like this?

    Thanks in advance.
