Whats the differences? Is the T400 really that superior since its meant to "replace the t61". I can't decide which one to get!

T400 = switchable graphics, availability of better discrete graphics, new chip platform (faster bus, memory, cpu, etc.), led screen. And available in 14". (You can't get a T61 in 14" anymore).

Same question from myself..
differences between T61 and T500. i was looking at at T61 then the T500 comes out with good reccomendations.
but lenovo is selling the T61 for $600 less then the T500 when i pick all the options I want.
I'll be doing internet mostly, but when I travel for the holidays, i want the thing to perform ie - watch a movie on the airplane, and play games with my brother & nephews.
I also want it to be like my current A31 model.. to last forever.
I like the switchable graphics in the T400, but it doesnt come in a 15.4 screen that i can find. -
T500 is 15.4" and has switchable graphics. Selectable at boot for XP, and runtime switchable if running Vista.

If you don't game a lot and want a budget Thinkpad get the T61 with Integrated Graphics. T61 is also the last Thinkpad with the 4:3 screen ratio.
IMO the difference is minimal, unless you're looking to maximize battery life, new LED technology on the screen.
