Was trying to decide between the two. i know t61 is going to far outclass the t43 in performance but i wont be needing the speed all that much, maybe encoding something every once in awhile.

    specs:
    T61
T7500, 1GB ram, 14" 1400x1050 screen, 100gb 7200rpm, nvidia 140m, win xp pro. im assuming remainder of a 1 yr warranty and its about 1 month old.

    T43p
    P4 M 770 2.13ghz, 15" 1600x1200 flexview screen, ati workstation card, 2gb ram, 100gb 7200rpm win xp pro. There is warranty til feb 2010

both are the same price at 600. is the t43p overpriced? i was interested in it also cause i liked the older thinkpads better than the new ones, but is the flexview screen worth it? Ive heard some bad things about quality of the screens of the newer thinkpads. trade offs to me are the flexview screen vs the dual core cpu. size is not an issue nor is the graphic performance.

At $600, the T43p is quite expensive, the T61 would be far better value for money. :)

It really depends on what you value more, performance or image quality. You will not find a better screen than the FlexView. If you're not a power user, the Pentium M is still a very good CPU for Office and Internet. If you need the latest and greatest, the T61 is obviously superior.
