    Hi all,

I've been hooking my T61 up to a 1080p LCD TV via the VGA port, and it works quite nicely. However, MOST of the time I am only ever able to get 1280x800 (the notebook LCD's max resolution) - that's the highest that shows up in both the Windows and Lenovo display configuration settings.

A couple of times, however, I've somehow managed to get the desktop showing on the TV at full 1080p resolution - somehow the computer has detected the TV's resolution and switches to it.

It's therefore clear to me that the Intel graphics are capable of outputting at that resolution; any idea how I can get this to happen reliably?

Use Powerstrip to send the exact signal you want to your TV.

Running 1080p encoded content is very cpu/gpu intensive. If your video card or CPU cant handle it try installing CoreAVC. This will enable you to use cpu video encoding.

I have an advanced dock with dvi going to my 24 inch monitor. Does anyone know if I can connect my advanced dock to my hdtv via the dvi cable? I assume I will have to get a dvi to hdmi cable to get it to connect to the tv? Or is there a better way to do this?

    I have a t61p with 570m graphics 256mb graphics card.

Yeah that's the best way: DVI to HDMI. Since the advanced dock is dual-link, you should have no issues. Just remember that you need a separate cable for sound and if need be a 3.5mm adapter to RCA stereo converter.

The other way is to get a converter box from DVI to component, but I don't see the point for the extra costs in hardware if your TV has HDMI. Just remember you will need HDCP compatible video card if you want to play HD discs. Since you have an advanced dock, should could probably find a video card for that.

What kind of cable will I need for sound? Obviously something that goes from my tv to the advanced dock. I just purchased the hdmi to dvi cable over at monoprice.

    Thanks for your assistance.

I have the t61 as well but do not have the advanced docking station, but would like to connect my laptop to my TV at either 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolution. The laptop only comes with a VGA output, so I was wondering what cable I will need to convert the signal into something my TV will recognize and what resolution my laptop will need to be set at to make this work properly. I have done some searching online and I cannot seem to tell if I need an expensive (~$200) signal converter or not. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. :D
