I'm placing an order for T61 now. If I want to choose "2yr thinkpad protection service", do I also have to upgrade warranty service? or can I just have 2yr thinkpad protection with base warranty?
Is the thinkpad protection worth for $200?

Also, what is this warning sign below?

"IntelĀ® Turbo Memory hard drive cache"
Selection of Intel Turbo Memory hard drive cache does not allow configuration with Wireless WAN. Please deselect if Wireless WAN is required.

    Thanks in advance..

    Yes.

The configuration only allows Turbo memory, OR Wireless WAN. So you choose either one, not both.

So do I have to upgrade warranty and protection with same length? Or can I upgrade either one like base warranty and 2year protection?

No, I think I was wrong earlier. When you choose the thinkpad protection plan for a certain year, it will automatically upgrade your warranty. And for $200 bucks it is definitely worth it.

You may also consider having just a base warranty of 3 years (costs only $100), and skipping the thinkpad protection. Depends on how clumsy/accidet prone you are.
Oh, and a thinkpad protection automatically gives you a warranty too

Then I would suggest looking at wearetheborg's signature in case you want to have an extra year of warranty on it :D

Seems like it's really worth it.

I went with standard warranty. I carried my laptop back and forth like everyday for a whole 3 years for work, 2 different machines, never had an issue. If you're clumsy then certainly go for the accident plan, otherwise just get the warranty.

What I really wish they did was a 3 year warranty, 1 year protection plan. Because I think if I accidentally drop it in the first year it will hurt me the most, after 1 year I'll jsut buy a new one :)
