Sup. Getting a really annoying whine from my T61, bottom right corner near the fingerprint area. Most people who have the normal whine problem have it coming from the top left area where the CPU is...right? So I don't think it's the same problem that I have. Anyone else have this problem, or just have a fix to it? I don't wanna download RMClock just yet since I've read that it could cause stress/problems to the computer and also if it doesn't fix my problem it's just another program that has to be uninstalled and take up space in the registry. Thanks friends.

Bottom right corner is where the harddrive resides. Could be a problem with that.. Do you have a 7200RPM drive?

Its the Core 2 Duo whining. If it bothers you go into the bios and turn off CPU power management.

Already turned CPU power management off, didn't work. Also I'm on Windows Vista.

Right underneath the fingerprint reader is the hard drive. Next time you hear it be sure to check exactly where it is coming from... if it is coming from your hard drive call up Lenovo. I bet it is coming from the rear left of our computer where the CPU is, the CPU generally whines when idling between power states, I hear that keeping the CPU occupied(ie. keep a program that keeps the CPU busy, on in the background) may stop the whining. Your hard drive shouldn't be whining, I would understand if it was making a marble dropping sound but I highly doubt its the hard drive.

I'm getting somethink like this too. I am getting some low static through my speakers and a frequent (1/5sec) sort clicking sound. If mute my sound card it goes away. I verified I only had my volume up half-way so I am blaring the speakers. I am running windows/linux. I noticed the issue in linux. I haven't tested it in Windows yet. I
