I just ordered a T61 and noticed that I got the 32 bit version of Windows home premium. I saw no option when I ordered to get the 64 bit version. Is it worth it to get the 64 bit version? Can I call and have my ordered changed to get the 64 bit version?

i installed from vista home premium, vista business, and vista ultimate 64 bit on my laptop and can not seem to justify the cost of using 64 bit os. finding drivers for a 64 bit vista drivers wont be a problem any more. one thing i noticed from 64 bit os are they are more stable, no virus and spyware. well i guessed i am just lucky that most virus and spyware were only for 32 bit. getting 2 gig of ram as a starting point will work but you need more ram. 32 bit programs will run but not 16 bit. i am currently on vista business 64 bit on my laptop and its running fine but can't stand my hard drive keeps on flickering every time. i just downloaded T61 64 bit drivers from lenevo and thinking of getting one also for myself. i just want to try and find out why most people rave about t61.

If you do research here and there you'll find 64 bit runs something like 10-20% faster. It's cheaper than a CPU upgrade. Therefore definitely worth it.

    it's free to upgrade
i heard you can call microsoft and if they verify you have a legal 32bit copy, they'll send a 64bit one (you probably have to pay shipping)
