My t61 constantly turns off the wireless when I put the lid 90% down and walk away for a couple of hours. Upon waking up, the wireless light is off. Pressing Fn/F5 to bring up the lenovo control panel the only option is to turn the wireless off (it thinks it is still on). I usually have to reboot to get it back on.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Rut

So what your are saying is that the T61 goes to sleep OK when you close the lid, but when it wakes up, the wireless doesn't come back on?

the wireless is quirky with the sleep mode. Try turning the card back on using Widows and not the Lenovo/Intel software.

i.e. right click on the icon in the tray and select "diagnose and repair". It will turn on if you do it that way, usually. that's my experience. It's annoying, i agree.

    Try This

Fn-F5, Open Access Connections, Configure, Global Settings, Uncheck Enable Automatic Lan Control

I believe automatic LAN control disables the LAN port when no cable is plugged in to save battery. Do let us know if it solves the issue though.

I am referring to this menu option,

This was a common problem on the Atheros A/B/G/N cards, The menu option you refer to is the last option in the AC List
