Does anyone know when The Lenovo T61 with the intergrated camera will become available? I would like the 15 inch. But would go with the 14 inch if I could get the camera. I do not want to order the new T61 today and next week Lenovo start sell the one with the intergrated camera.

The ship date for it isn't firm. Several people have been told towards the end of this month or the middle of June. Your best option is to just wait, by the time it comes out, the 15" models will probably also be coming out.

I prefer the Dell Latitude D830 to the 15.4" Lenovo T61 because it has a larger resolution. I prefer WUXGA resolution on 15.4" laptops.

A Poll is a good thing to sense how others fill about certains computers or other items you plan to buy. Some people offer great insight. Especially with the Santa Rosa platform being new.

Polls are good insofar as they get a accurate representation of notebook-user sentiment. Posting a poll in a Lenovo/IBM forum will not get you an accurate representation as there is going to be wild bias in favor of the Thinkpad.

That being said, I vote for the Thinkpad. :D

You're asking this question on a lenovo forum??? Don't you think you're poll results will be HEAVILY biased towards Lenovo?

Even though this is a lenovo forum... I think most people give a pretty straight forward answer. A lot of people have experience with different kinds of laptops. I use a different brand of Desktop and Laptop at work than I do at home. I would rate what I think is best, regardless of what forum I am in.

I doubt people who only have a macbook check the lenobo/ibm forum. They probably spend most amount of the time on the apple forum. Likewise, people with lenovo hover around the lenovo forum most of the time. If that assumption is correct, then the answer is biased towards the preferences of a certain group, i.e. lenovo owners.

A macbook and windows Laptop are two different OS all together. Some of us are look for a quality notebook, and are torn between different brands.. i.e. Dell, Lenovo, HP and Gateway. They all use Windows Operatings Systems not the Apple Mac OS. Macs are not even in this pictures.(Unless one want use bootcamp, and use Windows on the Mac.) I think most people are in these forums to help others, and are not "biased towards the preferences of a certain group, i.e. lenovo owners."

    Furthermore:

This is a little off topic, but Lenovo does not allow customers to combine the Intel Turbo Memory 1GB with an integrated wireless wide area network card. And that is not all. Lenovo charges an extra $37.50 for the Intel Turbo Memory.

I've used my bluetooth only a few times in 2 years, but when I have, not only has it been awesome (I don't know why), but it has saved me from going through a lot of trouble.

ughhh....what bad timing. I ordered mine about 10 days ago and I feel if I add the camera option now it's going to get pushed back another week. I don't even know if I have any use for it but when it's only $20 more it's probably worth it for those few times that it might come in handy. What to do?

I am not that impressed with the camera. If I was buying the T61, I would pay the extra money for it. However, if I already ordered one without it, I would not stop the order. Web cameras are cheap and the T61's web camera is relatively useless.

    Have you actually used it?

I have a webcam on my HP DV9000t, although it pales in comparison to my standalone digital camera, that webcam gets the job done. And I also appreciate the fact that the webcam's resolution is not so great, so the party on the other end of my video IM cannot really tell that I haven't shaved my beard in a couple of days...

I prefer the web camera on the Dell XPS M1210 and ASUS V2JE because they rotate. I do not use video conferencing, but taping my lectures would be nice.

i think, the best way is to call Lenovo and ask

you can also cancel your order while it's not shipped yet and make another one, with the cam

Why is everyone so excited over the camera? For business purposes I guess it makes sense, but for someone who is going to grad school I'm having trouble convincing myself that I actually need it. Any halfway decent cellphone can take pictures and videos and you can bluetooth them right over to your laptop. Only added perk of the camera is video conferencing and I don't ever see myself using that. Maybe my lack of patience is getting the better of me. I don't want my order to get pushed back 10 days. My patience is already wearing thin, and it has only been a little over a week since I ordered.

This case is very simple. There are only two mini PCI express slots on the motherboard.

You can install three kinds of devices: wireless network card, turbo memory or wide area network card.

    So, choose two :)

I expect latter, if the technology will be widely accepted by the customers, the turbo memory will be installed on the motherboard. Or ... it will morph into hybrid discs or ... SSD. Hybrid discs and turbo memory can't be used together anyway (at the moment at least).

so earlier today i called in to add the webcam to my t61, the guy had to cancel my previous order, and when he ordered the new one he messed up, he gave me integrated graphics instead of dedicated like i orginally ordered. I tried calling again but i was put on hold for around 1 hr, so i just had to hang up. the first time i called to add the camera i was put on hold for around45 min. Should i just call again tommorow? i feel pretty mad right now and frustrated.

would it be a good idea to just call tommorow and cancel my order, then reorder online to make sure they dont mess anything up? or would this delay my order more than if i just asked them to change my order?
