I am thinking about buying either a dualhead2go or triplehead2go to run 3 19 inch lcds but I am not sure if the the quadro 140 s will support 2560 x 1024 res? Iwould prefer via dvi but have a feeling it will only be supported with analog. can anybody confirm what my new t61's support would be for this res?

2560x1024 would definitely require VGA unless you have dual-link DVI (and I don't think so). Standard DVI ports top out at 1920x1200. Analog tops out at 2048x1536, which is more pixels than 2560x1024.

is the t61 not dual link dvi?

on the nvidia website it says the max res for the 140s is 1600 x 1200. yet it also says it is dual link

I'm not sure...I don't know much about the video card. Most laptops do not support D-DVI as far as I know.
Anyway, this might help you with the resolution and Linux questions too.

How about getting the Mini or Advanced Docks which I believe have DVI-D?
