    Hi guys,
I am running XP and IE7 takes a long time to load. About 10-12 seconds from the time I hit the icon.
If anyone can let me know what could be the problem, I would appreciate any kind of help.
    Thanks

    1. How is your average CPU load?

    2. Did you recently update Windows? If you did, did you pick only the critical updates, or did you pick more updates?

    3. How fast does your computer boot up?

Exactly, IE is a bug farm. Use it at your own risk.

My CPU load looks normal and the boot up time is pretty fast. Before I switched to Thinkpads, I was using a Dell M1210 with similar hardware and everthing seems pretty equal except IE on the Dell loaded much faster. I even switched back to IE6 for a while and it didn't do anything so I came back to IE7.

If it's only IE giving you problems then it's not really a problem with your laptop, it's a problem with IE. Try another browser to see if it help.

    Try this:

    1. Start the machine in fail safe mode

    2. Defragment the system disk

    3. Restart the machine in nomal mode

    4. Start the command prompt and try to re-register:
    REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL
    REGSVR32 ATL.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUCLTUI.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL

You may need to restart your computer after that.

This is not a ThinkPad specific problem, and we have seen on different platforms after updating Windows.

However, it is difficult to say exactly what and why it is happening, since I can not see what is going on with your system processes.
