Hey, I filled out the what laptop I should get. I was pretty set on getting Asus MV50-A1. But now I can't stop thinking about the thinkpad. Mainly because I heard the Asus screens are like mirrors in the sunlight.

I was wondering how well do T61s screens perform when outside?

I will using this computer for Creative Studios 3, as well as light gaming, counter strike-source, (i still can't get over gaming on a thinkpad) is the screen/performance/notebook right for this?

    thanks!

Well the T61 has a matte screen, but it is not bright enough to be used comfortably outdoors.

I have an R61 14.1" (which is virtually identical to the T61 14.1") and it has the WXGA+ display (1440x900 res) with the requisite matte finish. I occasionally use mine outdoors, but it's very difficult in direct sunlight because it simply isn't bright enough. In all honesty, I've never used a matte screen that was exceptionally bright or good for outdoor use. They are, however, a god-send in office setting with harsh fluorescent lighting.

When I do use mine outdoors, it's almost always under some sort of shade (if sunny) or when it's overcast/cloudy.

It's a great system on all other counts, though. =) Good luck.

It is fine to use outdoor!

You will need to change the power state when unplug the AV
the reason why it dim when not connecting the av because it save you the battery power.
