I've been considering ordering my T61 with a WXGA+, but I really wish I could see a similar display before I order one. Is it that rare to have a 1440x900 display in a brick and mortar store? It makes me wonder if that high of a resolution may be too darn high for most people, unless they are hard core users with super-fantastic vision. Or, they are just cheaping out like they usually do on most of the options - which always leads me to buying from places like Dell and now Lenovo.
Anyway, I like the 1280x800, but I think my eyes could take a higher resolution, but I'm not sure how much higher. heh I have better than 20/20 vision, but I'm no spring chicken either - 43 years old. My vision might go to crap tomorrow, and I'm planning to keep this T61 for 3-5 years. I prefer not to hate it by changing the default resolution.
I don't have a history of using extremely high resolutions. Right now I'm using my 20" desktop LCD (standard) and it's set to 1280x1024. To me, that is comfortable viewing. For some reason, I thought this should be much larger at this resolution compared to the 1280x800 14" WXGA I saw at the store today.
Anyway, what do you guys think? Also, is there a website or photos anywhere that shows a comparison of the 14" widescreen with the different resolutions?
Thanks!

I assume you meant T61 and not the T61P in the title?
The difference isn't too great if you have good eyesight. You don't necessarily need to have screenshots of a ThinkPad to show the resolution difference so here are pictures of the Dell Vostro:

If people have had a 1900x1200 res on a notbook .9 inches bigger (alienware area-51 m15x), 1400xwhatever is going to be good on a 14 inch.

Whoops! Yeah, I meant the T61 Widescreen.
Thank you very much for posting those photos!!
I'm just about to pull the old trigger today...
Hmm.. What else was on my list of questions? If you guys don't mind me asking...
Is the the next day/depot warranty good? I used to have Dell's next day on-site service, but for some reason, they always dispatched Fedex or whoever, and had the thing repaired and mailed back to me the next day. I was shocked that they could do something that fast. Is this how Lenovo attempts to work this type of warranty? Has anyone had troubles with the service that I should be aware of?
Also, is the 9v battery much larger than the 7v battery? That is one of the options in the configuration. For a while I thought it was a typo. It seemed like all the options from the reviews I read were 4, 6 and 7v batteries.

I have R61 with WXGA+ and it is perfect.

Well, the deed is done.
/Scooter waves bye-bye to his money.
I have a somewhat interesting build (perhaps). I'm going for the cooler, longer battery life setup.
I went with the T9300 2.5GHz for it's better power efficiency.
WXGA+
Integrated graphics
Just 1GB of RAM for now. I can get more later for next to nothing. It also will run cooler with less RAM. I'm not sure if I'll need much more than 1GB. I might put another GB in there.
XP Pro - Vista scares me. Sounds like too many problems with it around here.
I stuck with the 5400 rpm drive for the obvious reason also.
DVD Burner
Intel 4965 AGN
I loaded it up with all the little junk, basically. And I bought a bay battery, IDE adapter, extra 7v battery, spare chargers as well as a standalone battery charger. heh
I kinda went nuts on accessories. But it helped having an IBM discount.
That's about it, besides Microsoft Office Small Business and my warranty.
Ker-Ching!!

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I like your config, seems pretty good with high end components. Hopefully you are not planning on gaming with the IGP, but other than that it looks good. I myself have been trying to decide on res. Best Buy used to carry, at least in my area, an Asus high res model and when I went to look at it it was gone and is not coming back. They told me that there isn't a market for it in this area

Scooter22: How did the wxga+ turn out.? I am also planning to get a T61 but not decided whether to go for a wxga+ or wxga. I quite comfortable viewing a t30 with 1024x768.
T61P 14" Widescreen Display - WXGA or WXGA+ (again)
