Hi I have recently purchased a Thinkpad T61P 6460 from the states. It is a lot cheaper than buying here in the UK.

    # Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz Processor
    # 4GB RAM
    # 160GB 7200rpm HD
    # 15.4in 1680x1050 WSXGA+ LCD
    # 256MB nVIDIA Quadro FX 570M
    # CDRW/DVD-RW Dual Layer DVD Burner
    # Intel 802.11agn wireless
    # Bluetooth/Modem
    # 1Gb Ethernet
    # UltraNav
    # Secure chip
    # Fingerprint reader
    # 9 cell Li-Ion battery
    # Windows XP Professional

I just have a quick question which hopefully you guys will know or be able to find out. I was told that the T61P comes with an auto sesning power supply. Which means that even though the US and Uk have different voltage the power supply will work here in the UK without causing any damage to the notebook. As long as I use a US to UK travel adaptor to the plug.

    I hope this is correct?

The other question is that I need to purchase another T61p power adaptor and plug so I can leave one at work and one at home. However now I'm stuck

I have found a site in the UK which appears to sell the Power adaptors with UK plugs for the thinkpads, but I don't know which one I need or if it will work with a US Thinkpad?. Would it damage it?

Could you guys please have a look and point me in the right direction? Any help would be grateful.

The site I'm looking at for buying one is:

    http://ecommerce.cbccomputers.com/I...4.asp?Type=SHOWCASE&ID=36&Majcat=12&Mincat=18

    But which one?

I don't want to cause any damage to the notebook.

    hi!

i have just ordered the same one while in the states. i called lenovo support to find out if the AC and voltage differences are ok, and they told me that they should work without any problem, because the AC is designed for both voltages. Unfortunately i cant help you with choosing the right AC, but in my opinion any one should do well. I will ask the retailer about your problem when i pick up my laptop on tuesday (that is in 48 - i hope :)).

How is your experience with it? is it quiet? the battery ok? how about the display backlight - bright enough?

    Your assumption is correct nutpuk.
The AC power supply will work with most voltages, and travel between US and Europe is no problem. The only issue you might encounter is different sockets between different countries, but it is absolutely no problem getting hands on the correct socketed wire. Just need to keep it in mind when travelling between countries.

Please pardon my english, and ask if you need clarifying. :)
