I ve been aware of t61p video problems for a long time.
I knew the history of my card until I had a board replacement under warranty a year ago. I havent had the dreaded failure yet.
Tonight I was looking at the new graphics adapter and I noticed there's been a change! I have an Nvidia GTS 250 in my "new" T61P board and I was curious. Is this the same board with the failures? I don't remember that number?

GTS 250M should be a 9xxx based GPU, which is not under recall and it is faster than a T500 ATI 3650 in raw processing power. But these cards have on board vram (i think they use either GDDR3 and GDDR5).

I haven't heard of these cards been used in the replaced motherboard. If they are, i would be very much interested in getting a T61p with a broken GPU for the depot repair (my friend wants to sell me one for 200 dollars with 2 months warranty remaining). -
Great! Im pleased I could help you!
They are definately used by repaired t61Ps. At least thats what my Device Manager says.

Oops... late last night I was looking at the wrong machine.
I guess it's the 570m thats on recall?
